Number of payment terminals decreased in Uzbekistan

The number of payment terminals in 4Q2021 has decreased in Uzbekistan compared to the data as of March 1, Trend reports with the reference to the Central Bank of Uzbekistan.

The Central Bank listed the main indicators of the banking infrastructure of Uzbekistan based on the results of the first four months of 2021, according to which the number of payment terminals decreased by 1,344 and amounted to 439,000.

The total number of bank cards in circulation for the reporting period increased by 888,900 and reached 23.2 million units. The number of ATMs and users of remote banking services has also slightly increased over the four months. Their number amounted to 12,200 units and 16.2 million customers, respectively.

At the same time, the number of payments that went through the interbank system of Uzbekistan amounted to 733.8 trillion soums ($69.3 billion). The number of transactions reached 10.2 trillion soums ($964 million) through the settlement and clearing system and 76.8 trillion soums ($7.2 billion) through the instant payment system.

In the first two months of 2021, banks of Uzbekistan carried out transactions through payment terminals for 14.2 trillion soums ($1.3 billion). Then the Central Bank calculated how many plastic cards, payment terminals and ATMs are in circulation at each of the 32 banks of Uzbekistan.
