Azerbaijan reveals 1H2021 ratio of direct external public debt to GDP

Azerbaijan’s external public debt as of July 1 amounted to $7.84 billion, or 16.6 percent of GDP, Trend reports referring to the Azerbaijani Ministry of Finance.

According to the ministry, given conditional obligations, the country's external public debt amounted to $8.6 billion, or 18.2 percent of GDP.

Totally, as of July 1, decrease in the volume of external public debt was achieved in absolute terms by $218.1 million, or 2.5 percent compared to early 2021.

Meanwhile, Azerbaijan's direct internal public debt amounted to over 2.49 billion manat ($1.46 billion) or 3.1 percent of GDP. Contingent liabilities on domestic loans attracted under the state guarantees amounted to 231.1 million manat ($135.9 million) or 0.3 percent of GDP.

As a result, Azerbaijan's domestic public debt totaled 2.73 billion manat ($1.61 billion) or 3.4 percent of GDP.

Total volume of the external and internal public debts of the country amounted to 17.35 billion manat ($10.21 billion) or 21.6 percent of GDP by early July of this year. Of these, over 14.6 billion manat ($8.6 billion), or 84.3 percent accounted for the external public debt, and 2.73 billion manat ($1.61 billion), or 15.7 percent – for the domestic debt.
