BAKU, Azerbaijan, December 5. In Azerbaijan as of November 1, 2022, the turnover on payment cards through ATMs and POS terminals increased by 2.047 billion manat ($1.2 billion) or 60.42 percent, from 3.38 billion manat ($1.9 billion) to 5.43 billion manat ($3.1 billion), Trend reports via the Central Bank of Azerbaijan (CBA).

According to the bank, the overall number of payment card transactions totaled 62.229 million manat or $36.6 million (86.82 percent growth for the year) out of which 4.83 million transactions worth 241 million manat ($141 million) were carried out abroad.

As many as 56.2 million debit card transactions worth 5.12 billion manat ($3.01 billion) have been carried out both within the country and abroad. Some 11.225 million transactions worth 2.6 billion manat ($1.5 billion) were carried out through ATMs within the country, whereas 16.4 million transactions worth 556 million manat ($327 million) – were through POS terminals.

Bank customers executed 5.93 million transactions for a total of 313 million manat ($184 million) via credit cards (both within the country and abroad).

Some 344,000 transactions worth 62 million manat ($36 million) were carried out through ATMs within the country, while 3.1 million transactions worth 129 million manat ($75.8 million) – through POS terminals.

The number of payment cards in Azerbaijan as of November 1, 2022, increased by 2.252 million, or 21.1 percent, compared to the same period of the previous year and reached 12.925 million, compared to 10.673 million in 2021.
