BAKU, Azerbaijan, April 20. Bank deposits of the population in Azerbaijan (individual entrepreneurs) as of April 1, 2023, increased, Trend reports via the Central Bank of Azerbaijan (CBA).
According to the CBA, this figure amounted to 11.9 billion manat ($7 billion), which is 15.38 percent more than as of April 1, 2022 (10.37 billion manat or $6.1 billion).
The bank deposits of the population in foreign currency in the first quarter of this year grew by 4.08 percent to 4.56 billion manat ($2.68 billion), accounting for 38.2 percent of all deposits of the population.
Moreover, the volume of deposits of the population in the national currency increased by 23.61 percent to 7.39 billion manat ($4.35 billion), accounting for 61.8 percent of all deposits.
As of April 1, 2023, the volume of bank deposits of residents is 10.7 billion manat ($6.2 billion), while the deposit volume of non-residents is 1.16 billion manat ($680 million). In the reporting period, deposits of residents increased by 11.89 percent, while deposits of non-residents - by 61.56 percent.
Overall, as of April 1, 2023, the volume of bank deposits amounted to 34.5 billion manat ($20.29 billion), which is a 13.26 percent growth on annual basis.
In 2022, the bank deposits of the population in Azerbaijan (including funds of individuals engaged in individual entrepreneurial activity) amounted to 11.7 billion manat ($6.8 billion).
