BAKU, Azerbaijan, June 25. The total assets of banks exceeded 45.9 billion manat ($26.9 billion), total liabilities - 40 billion manat ($23.5 billion), and total capital - 5.8 billion manat ($3.4 billion) as of May 31, 2023, in Azerbaijan, Trend reports.
According to the Central Bank of Azerbaijan, compared to the same period in 2022, assets, liabilities, as well as capital of the banking sector, increased by 11, 10.45 and 14.94 percent, respectively.
The loan portfolio of Azerbaijani banks increased by 14.15 percent (2.5 billion manat or $1.4 billion) compared to the indicator as of May 31, 2022, and reached 20.6 billion manat ($12.1 billion).
Meanwhile, The loan portfolio of Azerbaijani banks increased by 14.23 percent, or 2.5 billion manat ($1.4 billion) compared to the indicator as of April 30, 2022, and reached 20.3 billion manat ($11.9 billion).
Total liabilities amounted to 39.7 billion manat ($23.3 billion), and net profit of the banking sector amounted to 345.2 million manat ($203 million), an increase of 39.14 percent or 97 million manat ($57 million) over the year, as of April 30.
