Azerexpresspost postal express service under the Azerbaijani public postal service operator "Azerpoct" received a gold certificate of the Universal Postal Union (UPU), the Azerbaijani Communications and IT Ministry said.
The certificate was presented during the UPU spring session, which was held in Bern from April 26 to May 13.
Azerbaijan was first this year among the CIS countries. The express-service of the postal operator has been awarded with UPU's high award.
The independent auditors check the quality of Express Mail Service (EMS-services) in each country annually and form rating. According to them, gold, silver or bronze certificates are assigned.
Azerexpresspost has been awarded with the UPU Gold Certificate for the fifth time.
As a member of the Administrative Council and the UPU Postal Operations Council, Azerbaijan took part in the discussions of both bodies.
The working groups of communication departments were held during the spring session of the UPU meetings along with the meetings of committees and groups of the Postal Operations Council. The participants discussed the urgent issues in the sector of postal communication. They held plenary meetings of the UPU Postal Operations Council.
Azerbaijani representatives made reports on a number of the projects implemented in the postal sector of the country with the UPU technical assistance. The views on cooperation prospects were exchanged with the leadership of the UN specialized body.
