Revenue from launching Azerbaijan's satellite to hit $600-650 million

The Azerbaijani second space satellite Azerspace-2 is expected to be launched into orbit in 2015, Communications and IT Minister Ali Abbasov told media today.

The cost for constructing and launching the communications satellites is about $200 - 230 million and received revenues are projected at $600-650 million.

The presence of its own satellites puts Azerbaijan along with developed countries in the field of space technologies and will ensure the country's information security.

The Azerbaijani first space satellite - Azerspace will be launched into orbit in the fourth quarter of this year from Kourou (Guiana Space Centre), located in the north-east of South America in French Guiana.
