Along with the increase in the number of electronic signature certificates (e-signature), the scale of their use is expanding in Azerbaijan, the Ministry of Transport, Communications and High Technologies of Azerbaijan told Trend.

According to the ministry, the number of e-signature tokens issued by the National Certification Services Center of the Information and Computing Center of the Ministry of Transport, Communications and High Technologies in 2020 amounted to 17,756 units.

“Around 9,838 of these e-signature carriers belong to state structures, 4.990 thousand - to entrepreneurs, 2,928 - to individuals. Thus, the number of e-signature tokens issued in 2020 is 32 more than in 2019,” the ministry said.

The number of e-signature certificates issued over December 2020 amounted to 2,058 units.

The ministry noted that the increase in the number of e-signature users also leads to an increase in the number of transactions.

So, in 2020, about 8 million transactions (operations) were carried out, 85 percent of them accounted for government agencies, which is 93 percent more than in 2019.

E-signature can be used in the form of a smart card and USB token as a means of identification and signature in accordance with electronic logic. This signature, which cannot be imitated, is valid for three years.
