The number of international visits (non-resident travelers of age 15 or older, who visited Georgia from their area of residence) from Russia to Georgia amounted to 118,200 in October 2019, which is 15.2 percent less compared to the same period last year, Trend reports citing the Georgian National Tourism Administration.
As for the number of tourist visits (visitor who spent at least one night in Georgia) from Russia to Georgia, in October it amounted to over 79,400, which is 26.2 percent less compared to the same period last year.
Over the ten months of 2019, the number of visitors from Russia to Georgia amounted to more than 1.3 million people, which is 6 percent more compared to 2018. Of these, the number of tourist visits amounted to over 984,500 (an increase of 1.9 percent).
“Despite a certain decrease in the growth rates in recent months, in general, in the tourism sector, positive trends continue and intensify. It should be noted that after the introduction of aviation restrictions by Russia, the daily work of the Georgian government is to minimize the damage that has been done to the private sector and the country as a whole, ”the Georgian Tourism Administration said in a statement.
From January through October 2019, for the first time in Georgia, the number of international travelers (who stay in a country for more than six months not for tourism, but for the purposes of education, employment, family reunion, etc.) exceeded eight million (an increase of 6.8 percent).
The number of international visitors amounted to over 6.6 million (an increase of 6.2 percent), and tourist visits – to over 4.4 million (an increase of 6 percent).
