Ministry discloses volume of cargo transshipped through Turkish Samsun port

BAKU, Azerbaijan, May 18

Some 2.4 million tons of cargo were transshipped through the Turkish Samsun port from January through March 2021, the Turkish Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure told Trend.

The vessels flying under the Turkish flag transshipped 128,445 tons of cargo while 2.3 million tons of cargo by the vessels flying under the flags of other countries.

"The cargo was not transited through Samsun port from January through March 2021," the ministry said.

Some 94.6 million tons of cargo were transshipped through the Turkish ports from January through March 2021.

Some 7.4 million tons of cargo were transported by ships flying the Turkish flag while 87.2 million tons by ships flying under the flags of other countries.

Moreover, 18.4 million tons of cargo were transited through the Turkish ports during the reporting period.

Some 32.1 million tons of cargo were transshipped through the Turkish ports in March 2021.

“Some 2.9 million tons of cargo were transported by ships flying under the Turkish flag while 29.3 million tons flying under the flags of other countries in March 2021,” the ministry said.

According to the ministry, 5.9 million tons of cargo were transited through the Turkish ports in March 2021.
