BAKU, Azerbaijan, May 13. The cost of goods transported via sea in Azerbaijan grew from January through March 2022, the State Customs Committee told Trend.

According to the committee, this figure amounted to $261.8 million, up by over $159.7 million (2.57 times) on annual basis.

Nearly 163,317 tons of cargo were transported via sea in the first quarter of this year, which is 77,342 tons (1.6 times) less than in the same period of 2020, the committee said.

Meanwhile, the volume of cargo export by sea decreased by 11,054 tons (41.4 percent) and equaled 15,651 tons. The export value exceeded $11.4 million (down by $1.06 million or 8.53 percent).

Some 147,666 tons accounted for import, amounting to more than $250.3 million (up by $191.4 million or 2.8 times year on year).

In 1Q2022, the cost of cargo shipments by all means of transport in Azerbaijan exceeded $10.9 billion, including export worth nearly $7.98 billion, and imports - over $2.93 billion, added the committee.
