BAKU, Azerbaijan, May 15. Some 118 million tons of cargo from January through April 2023 were transported through Istanbul Sabiha Gokcen International Airport in Türkiye, which is 14 percent more compared to the same figure last year, Turkish Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure told TurkicWorld, Trend reports.
According to the ministry, during the specified period, 35.8 million tons of cargo were transported by domestic flights, which is 8 percent more compared to the same indicator in 2022.
During the reporting period, 82.3 million tons of cargo were transported by international flights.
According to the data, in the accounting period, the airport served 10.6 million passengers, which is 26 percent more than the same figure of the preceding year.
In this period, 4.9 million passengers were served on domestic flights, which is 16 percent higher than the corresponding indicator of the previous year.
Moreover, as part of international flights, 5.7 million passengers were served, which is 37 percent more year-on-year.
The ministry also noted that 68.4 million flights were carried out via the Sabiha Gokcen Airport in the accounting period, which is 15 percent more than in the same period of the previous year.
Some 32.1 million were domestic flights, an increase of 11 percent more year-on-year.
International flights via the airport in the mentioned period grew by 20 percent compared to the same period of 2022, amounting to 36.3 million flights.
