BAKU, Azerbaijan, May 31. More than 1.81 million tons of cargo were loaded and unloaded at the western ports of Iran’s Hormozgan Province in the south of the country, during the first two months of the current Iranian year (March 21 through May 21, 2023), an official of Hormozgan Province Ports and Maritime Department Morteza Salari said, Trend reports.
“Of the mentioned volume, over 1 million tons accounted for non-oil products, while about 800,000 tons for crude oil and related products,” he added.
The official noted that in total, 959,000 tons of oil and non-oil products were exported through the western ports of Hormozgan Province in 2 months. About 515,000 tons of exported goods were non-oil products, while 444,000 tons were crude oil and petroleum products.
In 2 months, more than 68,000 tons of cargo were transited through the western ports of the province. Transit increased by 75 percent compared to the same period in the last Iranian year, Salari said.
According to him, more than 19,000 TEU containers with a capacity of about 205,000 tons were loaded and unloaded in the western ports of Hormozgan Province for the reporting period. This is 7 percent more than in the same period last Iranian year.
In general, there are 10 ports operating in the west of Iran's Hormozgan province. Among these ports, Bandar Lengeh, Charak, Siri and Lavan ports are more active.
