Turkmenistan discusses co-op in shipbuilding with South Korean KOMEA and KSIT

ASHGABAT, Turkmenistan, September 12. Turkmenistan is discussing issues related to the planning and implementation of shipbuilding projects with the Korean Marine Equipment Association (KOMEA) and Koryo Shipbuilding Industry Technology. Co., Ltd. (KSIT), Trend reports.

According to the information, these issues were discussed during the meeting of the leadership of the Turkmenistan Turkmendenizderyayollary Agency (Turkmen State Service of Maritime and River Transportation) with representatives of KOMEA and KSIT.

During the meeting, the parties discussed implementation of projects aimed at development of Turkmenistan's national merchant fleet, paying special attention to the construction of dry cargo ships and ferries. In particular, they talked about the construction project of two bulk carriers at the Balkan shipyard and ship repair plant.

KSIT representatives were presented with extensive capabilities and modern equipment that is available at the Turkmen plant, capable of building 4-6 high-quality vessels per year.

Representatives of KOMEA and KSIT expressed confidence in the great prospects for cooperation, noted the professionalism of local specialists and modern technologies used at the Balkan shipyard.

In turn, representatives of the Turkmendenizderyayollary Agency stressed that this meeting is an important step towards strengthening cooperation between Turkmenistan and South Korea in the field of shipbuilding and marine industry.

KOMEA is an association that unites 286 Korean manufacturers of marine equipment. It provides its members with various services, such as design in shipbuilding, supply of equipment and materials, introduction of advanced scientific technologies, personnel training, marketing, etc.

Koryo Shipbuilding Industry Technology. Co., Ltd. (KSIT) specializes in the design, construction and repair of ships of various types and sizes. The company is located in Busan, Republic of Korea, and has two shipyards: Busan Shipyard and Changwon Shipyard.
