Turkmenistan boosts transport imports from EU countries

BAKU, Azerbaijan, March 29. Turkmenistan increased purchases of transport means, including vehicles, aircraft, vessels, and associated transport equipment, from EU countries in January this year by 11.7 percent compared to the same month in 2023, the source at Eurostat, the statistical office of the European Union, told Trend.

During the reporting period, Turkmenistan's total imports of transport means from EU countries amounted to about 6.08 million euros, which is 11.7 percent more than imports in the first month of 2023, when they amounted to 5.44 million euros.

At the same time, the total volume of Turkmenistan's imports from EU countries in January 2024 amounted to 40.71 million euros, where transport means account for almost 15 percent.

In general, over the past year, Turkmenistan imported transport means from EU countries totaling about 119.45 million euros, which is 56.7 percent more than imports in 2022, when they amounted to 76.24 million euros.

Meanwhile, in the first month of this year, the trade turnover between Turkmenistan and the EU countries amounted to more than 118.44 million euros, which is almost 89 percent more than in the same month of 2023, when it amounted to 62.74 million euros.
