Ukrainian companies on a par with world leaders are willing to participate in the development of gas fields in Kazakhstan, Ukrainian Prime Minister Mykola Azarov said in an interview with Trend on Tuesday.
"Ukraine has a significant exploration and operational complex for oil and gas production. Looking back, it is well known that production of the Soviet gas started namely from Ukraine," Azarov said.
He said the experience gained here in 1960-1970s, became the basis for the development of technologies for gas production throughout the Soviet Union. In the USSR young people received special oil and gas education in the Ukraine, and then left to develop western Siberia and the North, Azarov said.
"Today we offer Kazakhstan our new technologies, specialists, as well as companies, which on a par with world leaders are willing to participate in the development of gas fields in Kazakhstan," Azarov said.
He said the cooperation of the Ukrainian Scientific-Research Institute "Naukaneftegaz" with "Kazakh Institute of Oil and Gas" is under discussion.
