The sixth Congress of Kazakh Judges has started in Kazakhstan today. Kazakh President Nursultan Nazarbayev is expected to deliver a speech, the Kazakh Supreme Court told Trend today.

The sixth Congress of Kazakh Judges has started in Kazakhstan today. Kazakh President Nursultan Nazarbayev is expected to deliver a speech, the Kazakh Supreme Court told Trend today.

'Over 600 judges from all regions of the country will be congress delegates', the message said. "The heads of the Kazakh central state bodies and foreign delegations are also involved at the forum."

According to the message, heads and judges of the Supreme Courts of Russia, Moldova, Ukraine, Georgia and Kyrgyzstan are among the guests. There are also visitors from the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia and Germany. Representatives of OSCE, UNDP, staff of the EU representative office in Kazakhstan, as well as judges of the CIS Economic Court and EurAsEC Court will also attend.

According to the message, the agenda includes the discussion of urgent issues of legal proceedings and determination of the role of the judicial system in the process of improving the competitiveness of the country. The problems of the courts' independence, their role in the development of human rights mechanisms, the openness of justice and issues of improving the professional and moral level of judicial personnel are among the important forum topics.

The Supreme Court and the Union of Kazakh Judges are the event organisers.
