BAKU, Azerbaijan, November 29. Kazakhstan plans to increase transit cargo traffic by the Kazakhstan-Turkmenistan-Iran railway, Trend reports with reference to the press service of the Prime Minister of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

This was stated by Deputy Prime Minister - Minister of Trade and Integration of Kazakhstan Serik Zhumangarin, speaking at the plenary session of the XVIII Forum of Interregional Cooperation of Kazakhstan and Russia on November 28.

He noted that Kazakhstan has intensified the work of the eastern branch of the corridor through the Kazakhstan-Turkmenistan-Iran railway, adding that this year for the first time a Russian train was launched along this branch.

According to Zhumangarin, in June 2022, a pilot train of 40 units of 40-foot containers with construction materials sent to India was launched from Russia.

"Furthermore, 79,200 tons of cargo were transported in this direction in the first nine months of 2022, which is 8 times more than last year," he added.
