BAKU, Azerbaijan, January 19. Kazakstan and Gazprom signed a roadmap on cooperation outlining the major areas of future relations between the sides, Trend reports, citing the press service of the Prime Minister.

The document was signed in the framework of the meeting between Roman Sklyar, the First Deputy Prime Minister of Kazakhstan, and Gazprom CEO Alexey Miller.

According to the statement, the Roadmap outlines cooperation between the sides on several matters, including the areas of the processing of Kazakh gas at the Orenburg gas processing plant, the possibility of Russian gas supplies to Kazakhstan, as well as collaboration on the promising cooperation projects.

Previously, Kazakhstan expressed its interest in procuring Russian gas to supply the northern regions of the country. Due to the geography of Kazakhstan and the landscape of existing gas pipelines, purchasing gas from Russia is the most economically feasible approach for Kazakhstan to pursue, in order to ensure the gasification of the northern regions.
