BAKU, Azerbaijan, February 3. Kazakhstan’s business activity index reached 50.7 points in January, which is an increase of 1.3 points compared to the previous month, Rustem Orazalin, Director of the Department of Monetary Policy of the National Bank of Kazakhstan, said, Trend reports, citing the press service of the National Bank.

Orazalin said that after eight consecutive months of being in the negative zone, the business activity index moved to the positive zone.

Particularly improved areas include the services and manufacturing sectors with a 2.4 and 1.6 percent growth respectively. Consequently, the indexes reached 52.1 and 51.3 for these two areas.

Meanwhile, in the construction and mining industry, the index remained below the 50 points threshold. However, business activity in the construction sector grew by 1.3 percent to reach 48.6 points.

The business climate index also improved. The indicator increased in all sectors. The business climate index, which is an average assessment of current and future business conditions, increased to 11.9 from 2.7 in December 2022.

The National Bank is the central bank of the Republic of Kazakhstan. The objective of the institution is to ensure price stability in Kazakhstan, in addition to regulating fiscal and monetary policy.
