BAKU, Azerbaijan, March 21. The price of agriculture products in Kazakhstan decreased by 0.3 percent last week, Trend reports, citing Kazakh Prime Minister’s press office.
The Turkestan region registered a decrease of 0.1 percent, however, the prices dropped for every category of agriculture production. A similar trend was observed in the Mangystau region, where a price decline of 0.1 percent was also observed. Potato and cabbage prices exhibited the most noteworthy drop.
The price decrease in these regions is recorded for two consecutive weeks.
The government revealed that the drop occurred due to the intervention in February, which saw significant volumes of various agricultural goods injected into the market.
Overall, the price of key agricultural goods in Kazakhstan increased by 0.1 percent, which is significantly lower than the 5.6 percent recorded a year prior.
Food product price growth is one of the major economic challenges in front of the Kazakh government. Kazakhstan is currently undertaking a series of steps to combat price growth, including the provision of additional agricultural goods from government reserves and boosting imports from foreign countries. The latest deal on the import of vegetables was signed between Kazakhstan and Tajikistan.
