BAKU, Azerbaijan, April 12. Some 19,221 tons of Kazakh oil from the Tengiz oilfield were shipped via the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan (BTC) Pipeline in 1Q2023, Trend reports, citing Kazakh media.

The first batch of oil, amounting to 9,959 tons, was shipped on 23 March 2023 by “President Heydar Aliyev” oil products tanker. The second batch of oil was shipped on 27 March 2023 via the “Shusha” oil products tanker.

Kazakhstan intends to significantly increase the transit of oil via the BTC pipeline in April. KazTransOil, the oil transport company of Kazakhstan, revealed that 125,000 tons of oil will be transited in April.

Earlier, it was reported that the shipment of 120,000 tons of oil planned for February 2023 was postponed as the terminal in Ceyhan stopped its operations due to the consequences of the devastating earthquake that rocked Türkiye.

Overall, SOCAR and KazMunayGas, national oil companies of Azerbaijan and Kazakhstan, agreed to carry out the transit of 1.5 million tons of oil in 2023.
