BAKU, Azerbaijan, April 20. The construction of the second track on the Dostyk – Moyinty railway section (from Almaty to Karaganda) is set to improve the capacity of a railway section, boosting it fivefold from 12 to 60 pairs of freight trains per day, Trend reports with reference to Kazakhstan Temir Zholy (KTZ), the national railway operator of Kazakhstan.

As KTZ said, the operator has already launched earthworks on six sections of the Dostyk – Moyinty railway section since the beginning of the project.

The construction workers have started embankment filling in eight additional sections of the line, including Tagynkara-Sayak, Zhaipak - Akshi, and Akshi-Koktuma in April this year.

According to KTZ, during the construction of the second tracks on the Dostyk – Moiynty section a total of 19.4 million cubic meters of soil will be excavated, 108 thousand tons of rails will be laid, and 1,538 sets of concrete ties will be installed.

Additionally, the plan involves the construction of 394 man-made structures and the laying of 898 km of external power lines. Production bases have been established at strategic stations such as Zharyk, Ushtobe, Beskol, and others to ensure progress toward the completion of this project.
