BAKU, Azerbaijan, June 9. An agreement on the construction of a hydrogen production plant was signed between Air Liquide Munay Tech Gases LLP (a joint venture of Kazakhstan's KazMunayGas and France's Air Liquide) and Kazakhstan's Pavlodar Petrochemical Plant, Trend reports.

The agreement was signed following the meeting between Chairman of KazMunayGas Magzum Mirzagaliyev and President of Air Liquide Francois Jackow held as part of the Astana International Forum (AIF 2023).

"We highly appreciate the partnership with Air Liquide, a world leader in the production of gases for industry, healthcare and environmental protection. This is confirmed by our joint successful implementation of 5 projects at three plants: Pavlodar Petrochemical Plant, Atyrau Oil Refinery and Kazakhstan Petrochemical Industries. Long-term contracts have been signed for up to 20 years for the supply of hydrogen and nitrogen," Mirzagaliyev said.

The recent agreement between Pavlodar Petrochemical Plant and Air Liquide Munay Tech Gases LLP marks the practical implementation of a project to construct a hydrogen production facility at the plant with further production of up to 160,000 tons of winter diesel fuel annually. The estimated project cost is €80 million.

Air Liquide Munay Tech Gases LLP is a joint venture between Air Liquide and KazMunayGas, with ownership stakes of 75 percent and 25 percent respectively.
