BAKU, Azerbaijan, June 21. Kazakhstan Temir Zholy (KTZ - Kazakhstan Railways) and German Rhenus SE logistic company signed a Memorandum of Understanding in the field of transportation and logistics, Trend reports.
As noted by the KTZ, the primary focus of this collaboration is to increase the volume of freight traffic along the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route (TITR - Middle Corridor).
Both parties aim to enhance the development of logistics centers and expand the terminal capacities of the ports in Kazakhstan's Aktau and Kuryk. In this regard, the German side will provide technical and advisory support for the design of a container hub based in the port of Aktau.
The memorandum serves as an additional impetus for broadening the capabilities of the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route and will contribute to the advancement of Kazakhstan's transit potential. This strategic partnership is expected to facilitate greater connectivity and efficiency in regional trade, promoting economic growth and strengthening ties between Kazakhstan and Germany in the transportation and logistics sectors.
The document was signed as part of Germany's President Frank-Walter Steinmeier's visit to Kazakhstan at the invitation of the country's President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev.
