ASTANA, Kazakhstan, July 19. Kazakhstan plans to ramp up its jet fuel production in the near future to meet the growing demand for aviation fuel, Dmitriy Makeyev, Deputy Chairman of the Board of KazMunayGas Kazakhstan's national company, said, Trend reports.

According to him, the country is considering increasing its overall production capacity by more than 1.2 million tons due to the expansion of Shymkent Oil Refinery. Preliminary market research conducted suggests that the demand for aviation fuel will reach 1.2 million tons in the next 10-20 years. The technical solutions aimed at expanding the Shymkent Oil Refinery are intended to fully meet the requirements for aviation fuel.

"Currently, the estimated import of aviation kerosene is around 300,000 tons, while our demand stands at 900,000 tons. However, our primary objective is to ensure the needs of passenger airlines. The cargo transportation sector heavily relies on predominantly imported supplies. Nonetheless, as of today, the nominal production in Kazakhstan's plants amounts to 650,000 tons.", Makeyev said

He also expressed his anticipation over operations of Shymkent Oil Refinery to stabilize by the end of this week, while the launch of full-capacity operations in the oil refinery in Pavlodar city will take about two weeks.
