ASTANA, Kazakhstan, July 27. A total of 14.4 million tons of coal were transported in Kazakhstan by rail from May 1 through July 24 as part of the preparations for the upcoming heating season (roughly from October through April), Trend reports.

According to the Kazakhstan Railways (Kazakhstan Temir Zholy - KTZ), out of total coal transported 13 million tons were delivered to the country's thermal power plants, while 1.4 million tons were allocated for domestic consumption.

Presently, coal mines are operating at less than full capacity due to a lack of orders and coal payments from thermal power plants (TPPs). The primary supply of thermal coal is being facilitated by Bogatyr Komyr LLP coal mine. As of July, the average daily coal shipments amount to 23 trains, while the technical capacity allows for 30 trains per day.

In an effort to enhance efficiency and tracking capabilities, KTZ is developing an interactive coal delivery monitoring system in real-time. Each station will input information into a designated form, and the central headquarters will collect and analyze the data. This system will enable better monitoring of solid fuel transportation and prompt responses to any related concerns.

In the near future, coal mines, cargo recipients, and cargo senders will gain access to this innovative platform.
