ASTANA, Kazakhstan, September 1. An online auction was held on projects in renewable energy sources for the Northern and Southern zones of the Unified Electricity System of Kazakhstan to select projects for hydroelectric power plants (HPPs) with a capacity of 20 MW on August 31, 2023, Trend reports.
According to the Ministry of Energy, 15 companies were allowed to participate in the auction. The maximum auction price during the auction for the selection of hydropower projects in 2023 was 41.23 tenge (about $0.9) per kWh (excluding VAT).
During the trading session, the price range of bids received from auction participants ranged from 41.23 to 17.5 tenge ($0.38)/kWh (excluding VAT).
According to the results of the auction, the winners were Dala Solar LLP with a total installed capacity of 5 projects (10 MW), Bekzat LLP with a project installed capacity of 4.8 MW, and FTR-Green LTD LLP with a project installed capacity of 4.5 MW.
The decrease in the auction price was 57.6 percent, which is a good result. Auction sales are aimed at selecting the most efficient projects and forming competitive market prices for electricity produced by renewable energy facilities.
Representatives of the USAID Agency, KAZENERGY ALE, Kazakhstan Electricity Association ALE, Qazaq Green Association ALE, and the Asian Development Bank took part in the auction as observers.
