BAKU, Azerbaijan, September 18. The volume of trade between Poland and Kazakhstan in the first half of 2023 amounted to $1.4 billion, which is 30.3 percent more than the same period in 2022, a source at the Ministry of Economic Development and Technology of Poland told Trend.
Speaking about the prospects for the development of economic cooperation, including trade, with Kazakhstan, the source noted that they can be considered positive.
"Polish exports amounted to $733 million (an increase of 88.1 percent), while imports amounted to $665 million (a decrease of 2.7 percent)," the ministry said. Most products exported by Poland were machinery and various equipment (51.6 percent), while the biggest items were auto industry related.
"In addition, our exports included products of the chemical industry (22.4 percent), agricultural and food products (8.5 percent) and others.
Meanwhile, Poland imported mostly mineral products (79.8 of the total) from Kazakhstan, including coal, which accounted for 74 percent. Along with that, Kazakhstan exported hydrocarbons/LPG to Poland.
"Besides, we imported from Kazakhstan wood and paper products (5.4 percent), agri-food products (5.2 percent), metals and metal products (4.9 percent), chemical industry products (4 percent), etc. Hopefully, we are able to maintain such a positive trade dynamics also in the second half of 2023 and beyond," the ministry said.
Trade turnover between Kazakhstan and Poland in 2022 amounted to $1.4 billion, which is 79.2 percent higher than in the same period of the previous year ($0.8 billion). Exports from Kazakhstan to Poland in 2022 increased by 99.4 percent and amounted to $770.8 million. Imports to Kazakhstan from Poland in 2022 increased by 58.2 percent and amounted to $587.5 million.
The foreign trade turnover of Kazakhstan in January through June 2023 amounted to $67.2 billion. In nominal terms, trade turnover increased by 4.3 percent compared to January through June 2022. Exports: $38 billion (in nominal terms, 10.3 percent less), imports: $29.2 billion (32.2 percent more in nominal terms).
