ASTANA, Kazakhstan,September 27. The volume of tax revenues from tourism activities in Kazakhstan amounted to about 208 billion tenge (about $433.4 million), Trend reports.
As noted by the country's Ministry of Tourism and Sports, this figure is 10.4 percent more than for the same period last year (188.5 billion tenge, or about $393 million).
At the end of 2022, a record level of tax revenues from tourism activities was recorded, amounting to 389 billion tenge (about $810.5 million).
"Tax revenues from tourism activities significantly exceed pre-pandemic levels. So, in 2019, their total volume amounted to 200.5 billion tenge (about $417.7 million). This is almost half as much as last year. The volume of services provided by Kazakhstani placements is also growing. Thus, in the first half of 2023, the country’s hotels served tourists for 98.7 billion tenge (about $205.6 million). This is 45 percent more than in the same period last year," said the official representative of the Ministry of Tourism and Sports, Moldira Abdualiyeva.
Investments worth $4 billion have been attracted to Kazakhstan's tourism industry over the past three years. During this period, more than 400 tourist facilities were built, and hotels from over 20 well-known international chains, including Hilton, Marriott, Wyndham, Accor, and others, opened their doors in the republic.
In 2022, about 1 million foreign tourists visited Kazakhstan; in 2023, this figure is expected to increase to 1.4 million people.
