ASTANA, Kazakhstan, September 29. President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev had a conversation with the Chairman of the Board of HHLA (Hamburger Hafen und Logistik), Angela Titzrath, Trend reports.

During the meeting, prospects for strengthening cooperation between Kazakhstan and Germany in the transport and logistics sectors were discussed.

Tokayev, noting the company’s key role in the development of transport and logistics in Germany, welcomed HHLA’s decision to open a branch in Kazakhstan.

Tokayev said that this industry is of strategic importance for Kazakhstan, as the country intends to strengthen its position as a key transit hub in Eurasia.

During the meeting, Kazakhstan’s interest in attracting financing for the purpose of purchasing new tankers for transporting dry and liquid cargo, as well as modernizing the ports of Aktau and Kuryk on the Caspian Sea, was noted.

HHLA is a leading European logistics company with a developed network of sea port terminals in Hamburg, Odessa, Tallinn, and Trieste and intermodal hubs connected to them in Central and Eastern Europe.
