Inflation in Kazakhstan shows decrease year-on-year

ASTANA, Kazakhstan, October 2. Inflation in the Republic of Kazakhstan slowed down over the year and amounted to 11.8 percent in September 2023 (in August 2023 - 13.1 percent), over the month - 0.6 percent (previous month - 0.7 percent), Trend reports.

According to the country's Bureau of National Statistics, prices for food products over the year increased by 11.4 percent (in August 2023 - 12.4 percent), for non-food products - by 12.1 percent (in August 2023 - 13.5 percent), for paid services - by 11.9 percent (in August 2023 – 13.9 percent).

Compared to September last year, the prices of the following products increased:

Cabbage - by 74.3 percent;
Rice - by 41.3 percent;
Grapes - by 37.9 percent;
Oranges - by 32.8 percent;
Canned milk - by 26.4 percent;
Non-carbonated drinks - by 23.9 percent;
Carrots - by 23.4 percent;
Mineral water - by 20.8 percent;
Pasteurized milk - by 18.2 percent;
Sour cream - by 16.6 percent;
Bakery and flour products – by 15.9 percent;
Butter – by 14.8 percent;
Eggs – by 13.6 percent;
Pasta – by 12.6 percent;
Tea – by 11.5 percent.

A decrease in prices was observed for:

Buckwheat - by 18.3 percent;
Granulated sugar - by 18.1 percent;
Garlic - by 15.9 percent;
Sunflower oil - by 14.8 percent.

The prices of the following non-food showed an increase:

Detergents and cleaning products increased - by 20.3 percent;
Furniture and household items - by 15.8 percent;
Dishes - by 15.3 percent;
Clothes and shoes - by 13.3 percent;
Building materials – by 9.4 percent;
Diesel fuel - by 34.4 percent
Gasoline - by 13.4 percent
Liquefied gas in cylinders - by 13.1 percent.

The prices of the following paid services showed an increase:

Recreation and sports events - by 16.5 percent;
Sanatorium services - by 15.8 percent;
Healthcare - by 15.4 percent;
Hairdressing salons - by 13.8 percent;
Hotels – by 11.6 percent;
Education – by 10.2 percent;
Railway passenger transport - by 10.5 percent;
Air transport - by 6.8 percent;
Garbage removal - by 34.9 percent;
Sewerage services - by 23.5 percent;
Hot water - by 16.9 percent;
Electricity, cold water - 15.2 percent each;
Housing maintenance, central heating - 10.1 percent each.

Regionally in September 2023 in annual terms, the highest level of inflation, exceeding the republican average, occurred in Akmola (13.2 percent), Zhetisu (12.7 percent), and North Kazakhstan regions (12.6 percent).
