ASTANA, Kazakhstan, October 18. The Kazakh gas company QazaqGaz (a national company) and the Chinese company Geo-Jade Petroleum Corporation will jointly develop the Pridorozhnoe gas field in the South-Kazakhstan region, Trend reports.
In this regard, Chairman of the Board of QazaqGaz Sanzhar Zharkeshov and President of Geo-Jade Petroleum Corporation Day Xiaoping signed an agreement on basic principles in Beijing.
According to the documents, design work will begin in 2024.
"One of the main tasks for QazaqGaz remains increasing the gas resource base. We are taking all possible measures to strengthen the country’s energy security. Therefore, QazaqGaz, together with the Ministry of Energy of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Samruk-Kazyna (Sovereign Wealth Fund), is carrying out large-scale reforms in the gas industry to ensure the investment attractiveness of the industry and attract investors to the development of gas fields," Zharkeshov said.
Previously, QazaqGaz and Geo-Jade Petroleum Corporation signed an agreement on cooperation in the field of geological exploration for gas deposits in Kazakhstan.
In addition, on October 17, QazaqGaz signed a new gas export contract with China's PetroChina International for 2023–2026. As the company explained, the signed agreement will allow the companies to bring cooperation on the export of Kazakh gas to China to a new, effective level.
