ASTANA, Kazakhstan, November 28. Kazakhstan plans to increase the share of toll sections on the country's roads, Trend reports.
Minister of Transport of Kazakhstan Marat Karabayev noted at a government meeting that about 60 billion tenge is required annually to maintain the country’s roads.
In this regard, to reduce the burden on the budget, new toll sections are being gradually increased in the country.
Currently, toll sections in Kazakhstan amount to 3,200 kilometers. From January through November 2023, revenues from toll sections amounted to 26.5 billion tenge (about $57.7 million).
As the minister noted, the share of toll sections in 2024 will increase by 1,200 kilometers.
In addition, by 2029 their share will be increased to 11 thousand kilometers.
As the minister previously stated, reconstruction and repairs covered 10,700 km of roads in Kazakhstan in 2023. In the coming years it is planned to reconstruct major highways with a length of 4,700 km (13 priority projects), as well as repair the main regional roads for 4,300 km.
To date, 13 international transport corridors have been formed and operate in Kazakhstan: 5 railway and 8 road.
