ASTANA, Kazakhstan, December 1. Kazakhstan wants to increase exports of agricultural products to Russia, Trend reports.
The matter was discussed during the meeting between the Ministers of Agriculture of Kazakhstan Aydarbek Saparov and Russia Dmitry Patrushev.
Trade turnover of agricultural products between the countries for the 9 months of 2023 amounted to $2.6 billion. The structure of trade turnover is uneven - Kazakhstan’s imports from Russia far exceed exports.
In this regard, Aidarbek Saparov focused on the potential for increasing the supply of Kazakh products to the Russian market, namely, increasing the supply of beef from Kazakhstan.
Saparov proposed to Patrushev to discuss the possibility of replacing Russian beef imports from third countries with Kazakh beef.
At the end of the meeting, Aidarbek Saparov and Dmitry Patrushev signed a Memorandum of Understanding between the Ministries of Agriculture of Kazakhstan and Russia.
The volume of trade turnover between Kazakhstan and Russia in 2022 amounted to $26.123 billion. Kazakhstan's exports to Russia during the reporting period amounted to $8.78 billion, while imports amounted to $17.34 billion.
Kazakhstan's foreign trade turnover in 2022 amounted to $134.4 billion and compared to 2021 in nominal terms increased by 32.1 percent, including exports - $84.394 billion (in nominal terms 39.9 percent more), imports - $50.043 billion (20.8 percent more in nominal terms).
