ASTANA, Kazakhstan, December 11. Kazakhstan’s trade turnover with the countries of the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) has almost doubled, said Deputy Prime Minister of Kazakhstan Serik Zhumangarin, Trend reports.

He made the remark in talks with President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev.

Thus, during the period of activity of the EAEU, mutual trade of Kazakhstan with partners increased by 74 percent (in 2015 - $16.3 billion, in 2022 - $28.3 billion).

At the same time, exports grew by 90 percent. Thus, in 2015, exports to the EAEU countries amounted to $5.1 billion; in 2022, the volume of exports increased to $9.7 billion.

In addition, the deputy PM spoke about the development of the agricultural sector. According to him, the Ministry of Agriculture has prepared a pool of 500 large potential projects in the agricultural sector worth 1.6 trillion tenge (about $3.48 billion) for implementation in 2024-2026.

For the first time, a second-tier domestic bank expressed its readiness to invest about 500 billion tenge (about $1.09 billion) of its own funds in the implementation of these projects.

Kazakhstan’s foreign trade turnover in 2022 reached a historically high level of $134.4 billion. The trade surplus amounted to $34.3 billion, which is 82 percent better than in 2021 and four times more than in 2020.

Export volumes amounted to $84.4 billion. By 2021, foreign sales volumes had increased by 40 percent, and by 2020, they had increased by 78 percent.

Import volumes to Kazakhstan reached $50 billion for the first time, updating the 2013 record ($48.8 billion).
