Kazakhstan increases imports from EU countries

BAKU, Azerbaijan, December 11. Trade turnover between the EU countries and Kazakhstan amounted to 31.7 billion euros from January through September 2023, the source at Eurostat, the statistical office of the European Union, told Trend.

As the source noted, this figure exceeds by 10.8 percent the figures for the same period in 2022 (28.6 billion euros).

In addition, Kazakhstan’s exports to the EU reached 22.5 billion euros, which is 2 percent more than in the same period in 2022 (22 billion euros).

Imports for the same period amounted to 9.17 billion euros, which exceeds the figure for the first nine months of 2022 (about 6.53 billion euros) by 40 percent.

Kazakhstan’s foreign trade turnover in 2022 reached a historically high level of $134.4 billion. The trade surplus amounted to $34.3 billion, which is 82 percent better than in 2021 and four times more than in 2020.

Export volumes amounted to $84.4 billion. By 2021, foreign sales volumes had increased by 40 percent, and by 2020, they had increased by 78 percent.

Import volumes to Kazakhstan reached $50 billion for the first time, updating the 2013 record ($48.8 billion).
