Kazakhstan expands access to gas in Turkestan region

ASTANA, Kazakhstan, January 24. In 2023, over 111,000 people were provided with gas in the Turkestan region of Kazakhstan, Trend reports.

According to the regional executive power, this is the highest figure in the country. In terms of population, natural gas covers about 1.65 million people, or 77.8 percent of the region’s population.

At the same time, the construction of 62 gas supply facilities in the region was completed in 2023, the number of settlements covered by gas reached 513.

In accordance with the strategic development plan for the region and taking into account the possibility of gas resources, by 2030 it is expected that 100 percent of the gas supply will be provided to the region's settlements.

In addition, in 2023, 7 billion tenges were allocated from the regional budget for gas supply projects. A total of 17.5 billion tenge has been allocated. In 2023, 27 projects were implemented, and 27 settlements were provided with gas. Construction of 47 facilities will begin in 2024.

In 2024, 10.1 billion tenge was allocated for gas supply projects. Construction of 71 objects is underway. By the end of the year, 38 facilities will be put into operation; in 2025, 33 facilities will be in operation.
