ASTANA, Kazakhstan, March 23. Kazakhstan's trade turnover with the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) countries amounted to $2.4 billion in January 2024, Trend reports.
Data from the country's Bureau of National Statistics shows that the volume of trade turnover decreased by 13.2 percent compared to the same period in 2023 ($2.78 billion).
At the same time, in the structure of trade turnover, exports to the CIS countries for the above period amounted to $1.12 billion, which is 19.1 percent less than in January 2024 ($1.39 billion).
In addition, imports from the CIS countries in January 2024 decreased by 7.2 percent and amounted to $1.28 billion. In January 2023, imports amounted to $1.38 billion.
Among the CIS countries, Kazakhstan's largest trading partner in January 2024 was Russia. Thus, trade turnover between the countries amounted to $1.72 billion. Of these, exports to Russia were $629 million, and imports from Russia were $1.09 billion.
To note, the volume of foreign trade turnover in Kazakhstan amounted to $139.8 billion from January through December 2023. This is 3.2 percent higher than in the same period in 2022.
Exports totaled $78.6 billion (in nominal terms, 7 percent less than the same time in 2022). At the same time, imports grew by 20.1 percent, totaling $61.1 billion.
