ASTANA, Kazakhstan, March 19. Kazakhstan's trade turnover with the EU countries amounted to $3.23 billion in January 2024, Trend reports.
Data from the country's Bureau of National Statistics shows that the volume of trade turnover increased by 9.5 percent compared to the same period in 2023 ($2.94 billion).
At the same time, in the structure of trade turnover, exports to the EU countries for the above period amounted to $2.42 billion, which is 10.7 percent more than January 2023 ($2.19 billion).
In addition, imports from the EU countries in January 2024 increased by 6.6 percent and amounted to $802 million. For January 2023, imports amounted to $752 million.
Among the EU countries, Kazakhstan's largest trading partner in January 2024 was Italy. Thus, trade turnover between the countries amounted to $1.45 billion. Of these, exports to Italy were $1.35 billion, and imports from Italy were $100 million.
To note, the volume of foreign trade turnover in Kazakhstan amounted to $10.08 billion in January 2024. This is 1.9 percent less than in the same period in 2023.
Exports totaled $5.9 billion (in nominal terms, 1.8 percent less than the same time in 2023). At the same time, imports decreased by 2.1 percent, totaling $4.18 billion.
