ASTANA, Kazakhstan, March 27. Kazakhstan and the international bank Société Générale have implemented more than 30 joint projects worth over $17 billion over 30 years of cooperation, Trend reports.

According to the Kazakh government, this was stated during a meeting between Prime Minister of Kazakhstan Olzhas Bektenov and representatives of the international bank Société Générale: the head of the Middle East, Türkiye, the CIS, Africa, Aymeric Arnaud, and the head of the countries of Central Asia and the Caucasus, Teyba Gouliyeva.

During the meeting, issues of current interaction within the framework of the implementation of investment projects were also discussed.

In addition, the meeting participants reviewed the prospects for developing cooperation in the area of ESG (ecological environment, social activities, corporate governance) in order to integrate sustainable development in all sectors of the economy.

"As President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev noted, it is necessary to actively involve international banks to attract foreign investment in Kazakhstan. In this direction, the government is ready for a mutually beneficial partnership and will provide assistance in the implementation of projects important for the country," Bektenov said.

Currently, a number of Kazakh companies are negotiating with the Société Générale bank on projects in the fields of energy infrastructure and the financial market.

Meanwhile, on November 1, 2023, a memorandum of understanding was signed between Kazakhstan's Samruk-Kazyna JSC (Sovereign Wealth Fund) and the Société Générale bank.

It is expected that the parties will consider cooperation in financing projects with export credit agency coverage, as well as operations in debt capital markets, treasury, and projects in the fields of sustainable development and asset privatization.

Furthermore, Société Générale is one of Europe's leading financial groups, providing advisory and financial solutions to governments, public institutions, and public corporations around the world.
