Kazakhstan reveals allocations for housing construction in 2024

ASTANA, Kazakhstan, April 23. More than 1 trillion tenge (about $2.25 billion) has been allocated for the development of housing construction in Kazakhstan in 2024, said Minister of Industry and Construction of Kazakhstan Kanat Sharlapaev during a government meeting, Trend reports.

"More than 1 trillion tenge has been allocated for the development of housing construction in Kazakhstan in 2024, providing 64,000 citizens with improved living conditions," he said.

According to the minister, over the past 5 years, more than 12 trillion tenge (about $27 billion) have been invested in housing construction, and about 78.5 million square meters of new housing have been introduced. Thus, through all sources of financing, 695,000 families improved their living conditions.

"By 2030, it is planned to build 111 million square meters of housing through all sources of financing and provide new housing to more than 1 million families," he concluded.

In addition, Sharlapaev noted that this year, Kazakhstan provided 339 billion tenge (about $764 million) to provide housing for socially vulnerable segments of the population. This is 3.2 times higher than last year.

Meanwhile, housing prices in Kazakhstan's primary market grew by 1.3 percent in March 2024 vs March 2023.

At the same time, secondary market apartment prices fell by 2.3 percent during the same time period.

Yet, the rent for comfortable housing in March 2024 has risen by 2.3 percent from the same month last year.
