ASTANA, Kazakhstan, September 30. In September 2024, Kazakhstan extended its oil supply agreement with Germany until the end of 2025, Trend reports via the country's Ministry of Energy.
"The volume of Kazakh oil exported to Germany via the Atyrau-Samara pipeline and subsequently through the Druzhba pipeline reached 1.082 million tons from January through September 2024", the ministry stated.
Kazakhstan's Energy Minister Almasadam Satkaliev also noted that Germany has requested an increase in oil supplies from Kazakhstan to 2.5 million tons.
He emphasized that to facilitate this increase, it will be necessary to secure agreement from the Russian side regarding the transit of this volume, as well as to ensure that oil and gas companies, including independent producers, are prepared to meet this demand. Consultations on this matter have only just begun.
The minister indicated that Kazakhstan aims to export 1.2 million tons of oil to Germany by the end of this year. He highlighted that discussions with Russia are ongoing regarding options for boosting oil supplies to Germany.
Currently, Kazakh oil is transported to Germany via the Druzhba pipeline, which crosses Russian territory.
