Bishkek will elect a mayor on February 4. The corresponding decree was signed Wednesday by Kyrgyz president of transition period Roza Otunbayeva, 24.kg news agency reported.
According to the document, in accordance with Article 38 of the Law of the Kyrgyz Republic on Local Self-Government and Local State Administration of Bishkek city mayoral elections scheduled for February 4, 2011.
President's Chief of Staff Emilbek Kaptagaev will submit nominations for the post of mayor of the capital.
Press office of Otunbayeva does not report the names of possible candidates for the post.
After the events of April 2010, the acting Mayor of the capital of the country is Isa Omurkulov.
