BAKU, Azerbaijan, April 10. Kyrgyzstan and Russian Sverdlovsk Region discussed the possibility of launching a train between Yekaterinburg, an administrative center of the region, and Kyrgyz capital Bishkek, Trend reports via the Ministry of International and Foreign Economic Relations of Sverdlovsk Region.
The issue of railway communication was discussed following the meeting between Samat Shatmanov, the Deputy Minister of Culture, Information, Sports, and Youth Policy of Kyrgyzstan, and Elmira Tukanova, Director of the Department for the Development of Tourism and the Hospitality Industry of the Sverdlovsk Region.
Furthermore, the sides discussed increasing air traffic between Yekaterinburg and Kyrgyz cities, including the launch of charter flights to Issyk-Kul International Airport in the northeast of Kyrgyzstan.
In addition, the possibility of concluding agreements between travel associations and tour operators of the countries was discussed.
As for now, it is possible to travel from Bishkek to Yekaterinburg via railways by taking a direct train on the Bishkek-Kazan route, which once a week departing from Bishkek on Mondays.
There are also direct flights operating from Kyrgyzstan's airports Manas and Osh to Yekaterinburg.
