BAKU, Azerbaijan, April 11. Russia’s Ulyanovsk region exported 840 tons of wheat to Kyrgyzstan in the first quarter of 2023, Trend reports citing the Federal Service for Veterinary and Phytosanitary Surveillance of the Russian Federation (Rosselkhoznadzor).

The exported wheat was grown in the Cherdaklinsk, Kuzovatovsky, Mainsky, Ulyanovsk, Karsunsky, Sursky, Veshkaymsky, and Nikolayevsky districts of the region.

Rosselkhoznadzor said that all grain products have been examined in the laboratory and passed control tests.

The Ulyanovsk region has exported more than 15,900 tons of grain and its processed products since the beginning of 2023, which is an increase of 10 times year-on-year.

The main exported crop was food wheat grain, 11,856 tons of which have been shipped in total, including 1,065 tons to Kazakhstan, and 840 tons to Kyrgyzstan.

Meanwhile, Kyrgyzstan imported 19,052 tons of wheat in January 2023, which is 16 percent less than in the same period of 2022 (22,649 tons).

During the period under review, Kyrgyzstan imported wheat from Russia and Kazakhstan.

The imports of wheat from Russia in January 2023 amounted to 18,236 tons, which is 12.5 percent less than in the same month of 2022 (20,835 tons).

The imports of wheat from Kazakhstan made up 816 tons, which is 55 percent less than 1,814 tons of wheat in January 2022.
