BISHKEK, Kyrgyzstan, September 6. For the period of January through July 2023, 75% of the budgetary allocation for the energy industry in Kyrgyzstan has already been disbursed, Trend reports.
According to information from the country's Ministry of Finance, the Kyrgyz energy sector received a total of 24 billion soms ($271.8 million) in funding between January and July 2023. This budget contained $46.7 million ($4.3 billion soms) for autumn-winter season preparations.
The total budget allotted for the financial support of the energy industry and activities related to the autumn-winter season preparation for the year 2023 was 31.8 billion soms ($360.2 million).
A budget loan in the amount of 4.7 billion soms ($53.2 million) has specifically been allocated for 2023 to pay for costs associated with electricity import, the purchase of fuel resources for thermal power plants in the cities of Bishkek and Osh, and the execution of construction projects.
This comprises project feasibility analyses for the development of the Orto-Tokoy reservoir, the minor hydroelectric power plant Bala-Saruu HPP, and the Kambarata HPP-1. 2.8 billion soms ($31.7 million) of them have already been allocated.
Additionally, a total of 137.7 million soms ($1.5 million) have been set aside for the Ministry of Energy's administrative costs.
