BISHKEK, Kyrgyzstan, September 8. Kyrgyzstan and KOICA (Korea International Cooperation Agency) are ready to expand and deepen cooperation by increasing KOICA’s project portfolio, especially in areas like the green economy and sustainable energy, Trend reports.
This was said by the Deputy Minister of Economy of Kyrgyzstan, Kanat Abdrakhmanov, during a meeting with Lee Yun-Young, the Vice President of KOICA, responsible for the Eurasian region.
During the meeting, the parties discussed the current project portfolio and planned projects, including a pilot project for transitioning the fleet of Kyrgyz Post to electric vehicles and projects related to digitalization.
The Deputy Minister emphasized that the accumulated experience and advanced technologies from the Korean side are of particular interest to Kyrgyzstan, and sharing this experience contributes to addressing key challenges in these areas.
Furthermore, both sides noted the strengthening of bilateral cooperation since 2013, when the Framework Agreement was signed and the KOICA local office was opened in Kyrgyzstan.
Since 1991, a series of projects totaling over $70 million have been implemented by KOICA in various sectors of Kyrgyzstan, including public administration, agriculture, digitalization, healthcare, and environmental protection.
