BISHKEK, Kyrgyzstan, October 4. Passenger transportation in Kyrgyzstan amounted to 346.28 million people from January through August 2023, which is an increase of 30.7 million people or 9.7 percent compared to the corresponding period last year, Trend reports.
Data from the State Statistical Committee of Kyrgyzstan reveals that 3.1 million passengers were transported in Kyrgyzstan in August of this year, increasing 7.4 percent year-on-year.
The majority of passenger transportation (over 93 percent) was carried out by road transport, including buses, minibuses, and taxis. The growth in passenger transportation volume was observed across all regions of the country.
The total passenger turnover for all modes of transportation in Kyrgyzstan reached 6.579 billion passenger-kilometers from January through August 2023, which is an increase of 489.2 million passenger-kilometers or 8 percent compared to the corresponding period last year.
In August of this year, the volume increased by 100.1 passenger-kilometers, or 11.5 percent year-on-year.
At the same time, the volume of cargo transported by all types of transport in Kyrgyzstan reached 30.224 million tons from January through August 2023, which is an increase of 3.1 million tons, or 11.5 percent, compared to the same period last year.
