BISHKEK, Kyrgyzstan, October 4. The majority of imported goods into Kyrgyzstan came from China, accounting for 40.8 percent of the total imports, Trend reports.

Data from the State Statistical Committee of Kyrgyzstan shows that the country’s imports from China during the reporting period amounted to $2.67 billion, up by 28 percent compared to the same period in 2022.

The main items imported from China to Kyrgyzstan included electrical machinery and equipment, amounting to $207.9 million; clothing and accessories, totaling $20 million; and footwear ($18.6 million).

Outside the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS), Kyrgyzstan primarily received imports from South Korea (4.7 percent of the total import volume), Türkiye (4.2 percent), the US (3.7 percent), and Germany (3.6 percent).

The largest import volumes from CIS countries came from Russia (17.1 percent of the total imports), Kazakhstan (7.4 percent), and Uzbekistan (3 percent).

The imports into Kyrgyzstan from CIS countries totaled $1.917 billion, or 29.3 percent of the total import volume, from January through July 2023, decreasing by 9.3 percent compared to the same period in 2022.

Meanwhile, imports from non-CIS countries increased by 57 percent year-on-year, reaching a total of $4.633 billion, which accounts for 70.7 percent of the total import volume.
